The SAFEAgent scheme

At haart we are proud to be a founder member of SAFEagent, an industry Kitemark designed to reassure consumers that the lettings agency they are using has client money protection insurance.

Watch our video below where Paul Sloan, Lettings Operations Director for haart, discusses the SafeAgent scheme:

Changes to consumer protection legislation mean that all lettings agents now need to clearly display their charges and fees in their branches and on their website; furthermore they need to state if they are part of a client money protection scheme. They are able to obtain this through organisations such as NALS, RICS and ARLA. The aim of clearly displaying fees is to prevent hidden charges from being a surprise to the consumer.

One way to ensure you are dealing with a reputable lettings company is to see if they have signed up to SAFEagent as your money may be at risk if they aren’t. All of haart’s lettings branches are affiliated with the scheme , so you can rest assured your money is safe with us.

As well as signing up to a client money protection scheme, lettings agents need to be a member of an approved body such as NALS, RICS an ARLA in order to be an approved SAFEagent. These organisations are completely independent from the letting agent and they do not act on behalf of, or have a duty of care to the participating firm. This ensures excellent consumer protection, which is why it is essential to only deal with firms who are part of SAFEagent, such as haart.
